I am unwritten.
I don't take pictures;
I capture moments.

Call me Ace. Aaron. Magic Man.
Whatever fits your fancy at the moment.

I'm a full-time, professional magician. :XD:
I ended my most recent tour in August 2015.

I live in Denver, Colorado, with my beautiful wife and two cats. The cats are beautiful, too.

I love photoshop, but try not to go overboard. I believe a properly edited photograph shouldn't look edited.
I have an undying passion for all things magical and puzzling. I have a weakness for videogames.
and Jones Cream Soda.

I love living! I write and I draw and I design and I create -- everything I love and more -- for a living.
I couldn't be happier.

I grew up in a small town with a name that people think I made up; I was photo editor two years for the high school yearbook, as well as the Editor in Chief of the newspaper, senior year.

I've won awards for both photography (originality, creative editing) and writing (feature news, poetry, comedy featurettes), as well as various awards for performance arts (magic, public speaking, and theatre).
I am both self- and professionally-trained in the fields I enjoy.

Oh yes, and I love magic.
^ understatement ^

I'm a starving artist. Willingly.
I work for the enjoyment of those around me, both in performing and in photography. If you like the stuff you see and want to encourage me to keep up the good work, the best way you can do that is toss me a few points. ;) If you can't, drop me a comment or a note and say something. But I will love you forever for points. ^_^ Might even follow you home and do your dishes :XD:

My deviantART Story

Journal Entry: Sat Aug 9, 2014, 2:09 PM
smokin girl by normanpaeth

Happy Birthday, DeviantART!

I started my journey many years ago -- and at first, deviantART was a place to look for inspiration.  I wasn't much of a contributor, but I found things that intrigued me.  This photo by normanpaeth has been one of my favorites for a very long time.  It reminds me that the typical approach to photography isn't always the best -- that making yourself open to unique opportunities would garner a much more interesting life story through photos.  I've obviously been planning ahead, here...

Amethysta No 1 by Hart-Worx

Hart-Worx , one of my favorite photographers, posted this one day and I fell in love.  Sure, the model is fantastic, the wardrobe is killer -- but I swooned like a schoolgirl at a concert over the sharpness and depth of field.  At this point in my life, I had no idea how to achieve that naturally, and this is the photo that led me down a path of learning about lenses, sensor sizes, apertures and "sunny 16."  I still love this photo; out of all the things I see online, this is still one of my absolute favorites.

Lorber Vintage 2 by elroyhavoc

I was shocked to learn that I lived near elroyhavoc ; we haven't ever hung out or had drinks, but he was kind enough to explain some lighting to me.  I had been using a 5-point light kit and using every light I could, all the time.  He showed me how very impactful a single light source could be, and how big, elaborate setups weren't necessary to create amazing art.

My Mind by SvenMueller

When the HDR craze hit me, I started researching.  I didn't want the fakey 'painterly' stuff and cartoony images that had been floating around.  SvenMueller took this amazing photo of a tree in a field with a gorgeous cloudscape.   I adored the natural look to this, with the feel of the hyperrealistic edge.  Anytime I start compositing images for an HDR result, I think back to this and try to remind myself to not go overboard.

Let the wind blow your mind by CpointSpoint

Finally, the first moment I felt extremely proud of myself.  The first time I ever felt like my artwork was appreciated; years of hard work and sacrifice, and CpointSpoint used a photo of mine as a reference for this beautiful painting.  It's the first time a photo of mine (and not of me) has ever been painted.  This is the first time I have ever felt validated, at all, as an artist.

And it happened just a few weeks ago!
What perfect timing to be coming into the reality of a dream, during DeviantART's 14th birthday.

I'm exceptionally proud to be a contributing member of the site, and look forward to whatever I learn next.
